Looking down onto Malta

Malta was great for photos. The place is so unique and the ship made a great view point to take photos from. This was one time where I didn’t get off the ship. Instead choosing to relax and enjoy the pool while no guests were there.

It seems like I didn’t post a photos on friday. I would put it down to computer error but to be honest it was all me. I would make the excuse of a new job and other blah blah blah excuses that I could make up but I won’t. Instead I will be posting an extra one this week on saturday. Tis also means that I need to go out in London at some point this week as my current supply is running a bit thin. If you want photos of my hand or random person then i’m sorted for qa while but for some this might not be the case.

See you all tomorrow.

Stairs to St Paul’s

I haven’t been back to visit the protesters at St Paul’s recently but I hear that they had to get rid of a few tents although I’m sure that it didn’t have much effect on their spirit. This was taken a while back on a photo walk before the protesters took camp at the bottom of these steps.

Only 4 days to christmas everyone. I should now start to buy some presents. Oxford street is mad at the run up to christmas so I am going to try and avoid it at all costs.

Apple on Apple

London is full of christmas lights for the festive season and on this trip I fully intended to just take photos of those stunning lights but something else was on my mind. I had ordered a Macbook Pro so when I was going through Covent Garden I stopped to take a photo of one of their flagship London Stores.

This was the first photo that I processed on it after 2 days of transferring files, programs, reformatting hard drives and adding plugins. Who new transferring to apple would be so much hassle but it well worth it.

The temple in Malta

On friday I posted a photo from Segesta in Malta. That was of the remains of an amphitheatre and this is the temple on the same site.

I am hoping to get out and about in London soon to get some good christmas pictures. The place is covered in christmas lights and I haven’t had the time to get out in ages  as I have been so busy.

Have a good weekend.

The Australian War Memorial

This war memorials lies on London’s Hyde Park Corner. It is dedicated to the 102,000 Australian dead of the First and Second World Wars.

The memorial is a semicircular curved wall of grey-green West Australian granite, with the names of 47 battles in which Australia was involved and the names of 23,844 towns in which the soldiers were born carved into it, with water running down over the names. The memorial was designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects and the artist Janet Laurence.

This image is a close up of some of the names with the water flowing over the top.

We saw some steps going up a wall of the marina. We went up in curiosity and found this the other side. There was lots of coastal protection features in the area. Concrete structures stop the sea from eroding the small island any more then it already has.

Malta was one of my favorite ports. Mainly for the good food and internet. Sad, I know. The town we docked in was named Valetta, a beautiful town with streets and alleys like this one everywhere.

All of the buildings are made out of this local stone, which gives the sandy colour to all of the area.

We went down into the crypt of the same cathedral in Cadiz. It was full of echos as it was designed that if you stand in a specific spot in the centre, you can here sound from everywhere.

Unfortunate for the entire time in the cathedral I wasn’t allowed to use a tripod so all photos are handheld. this meant that i had to have a higher ISO creating noise but nothing I couldn’t sort out in post production fortunately.

St Maartin was the first stop on the Eastern Caribbean cruise. It was the port where you could buy everything electrical for really cheap prices. I bough a canon S95 and my Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens but wanted to buy alot more.

When processing this image I found a guy sleeping under the bush on the left. He was a big surprise but what can I say; the Caribbean is very relaxed.

The next stop was Castaway Cay, Disney’s private Island in the Bahamas. It was alays really hot there even if a storm was coming in this one time. We had a crew beach to go to when we had time off. I spent most of that time taking photos of the crew beach or just playing in the clear water.

More from the British Museum now and the restored ionic columns that face out on to the reading room.

My favorite shot of the museum. I was standing at the top of the reading room stairs and had to wait around 10 minutes to get a shot with no one in. obviously come at a busy time.

Looking up to the roof of the British Museum. The stairs lead all the way around the reading room.
