The fountain of colour
I ended a photo walk early as I had to be up early for a long long days work. The last place I ended up before swiftly jumping on a bus to Victoria station was Marble Arch. This fountain is next to the arch put there by Westminster council to attract visitors to the area. It is a fantastic place to be at night with people travelling on Boris bikes (on drunken adventures) to come and see it.
The fountain changed colour during my long exposure from blue to pink. In post production, I merged the two colours together bringing out the best of both. It creates something that the eye could only dream os seeing when you are actually there. I hope you like it as much as I do.
The Australian War Memorial
This war memorials lies on London’s Hyde Park Corner. It is dedicated to the 102,000 Australian dead of the First and Second World Wars.
The memorial is a semicircular curved wall of grey-green West Australian granite, with the names of 47 battles in which Australia was involved and the names of 23,844 towns in which the soldiers were born carved into it, with water running down over the names. The memorial was designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects and the artist Janet Laurence.
This image is a close up of some of the names with the water flowing over the top.
NFL in London
As some of you will know the NFL (National Football League) or as we call it, American Football, came to London recently. I was on a photowalk in London wanting to take photos of Trafalgar Square and to my surprise it was sectioned off and had a special NFL event on. We talked are way in (it wasn’t hard as entry was free but they didn’t like our camera stuff) and after they discovered that we didnt have anything to hide after searching my bad throughly, were let in. I have never seen the square so busy. I was handed a cardboard chair wondering why such an item had been given to me.
People were gathered infront of a big tv screen and I soon found out that it was the classic ‘Jerry Maguire’ playing in a typical american fashion. I didnt stay there long but I managed to grab this photo of the Chicago Bears mascot by the fountain.
For those of you that want to know the score was Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-18 Chicago Bears
Buckingham Palace Over the Water
This is a shot I have taken before but during the day. I went there expecting to take a few great shots but as I was walking through Green Park I could see that the statue overlooking the Palace was covered in scaffolding.
This ruined many of the compositions that I wanted to take but I just adjusted them and it gives me another reason to visit once the work is complete.
Rome was next on the agenda in Europe. I had always wanted to go there and it lived up to its reputation. It is full of wonderful Artchitecture, a photographers drem. Its a shame that I was never there in that magical “golden hour”. I have to go back at some point to have the time to take some great shots.
This is the famous Trevi fountain. You cant move around there. It is always packed full of tourists sardined into the very small space.
