An (un)crowded Tower Bridge http://bit.ly/wNjR1T

Reflection in the Orb

The strange egg shaped orb should be familiar to anyone who follows this blog or lives in and around London. It is of course the mayors office located next to Tower Bridge that also can be seen in the photo.

Its great that we get sunny days in London but I wish (like all photographers) that I had the power to call in clouds when I like. The great thing about being in London all the time is that you get many opportunities for different moods of the same scene.

Have a good weekend and I’ll be back on MOnday.

A Blue Aquarium Glow

The blue glow of the London Aquarium always makes the Southbank standout. Combined with the giant London Eye (that night lit up in green) it makes for a beautiful sight.

This long exposure captures the movement of the Millennium Wheel over a 30 second period.

The Pod at Dusk

I find that it is hard to get a great picture of the London Eye close up. There are so many details that you can miss. The clouds were not that great on this day so I used a bit of Nik Software to spice the sky up a little. It enhanced the colour alot bringing out the fading light.

The wheel takes 30 minutes to go around once and it is a good trip. Well perhaps not the queueing before hand, which can be a very long time on sunny days when the tourists flock down to the Southbank.

Have a good weekend everyone and I’ll be back on Monday.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre

The Globe theatre has be re-created on London’s Southbank, close to where it originally stood. They still put on Shakespeare plays and is a very popular destination for locals and tourists alike. I have never had the chance to see a play there but it is on my to do list.

I have recently been going over some old photos from when I first started HDR photography. I have realised that I have learnt so much since.I decided to redo some of my old favorites with new techniques that I have learned. This was one of the very first times that I went out in London taking photos.

I was walking across Charing Cross bridge and saw the shadow of the London eye cast on the building behind.

Another Tilt-shift. This time its of the London Aquarium

My first Tilt-shift attempt. I think it works well with the trains going across the bridge.

The View from the London Eye. It looks so good in HDR. Its a shame about the reflection though

The London Eye is an Amazing Structure

This was one of the rare moments where the millennium bridge wasn’t that busy. Im am liking photoshop HDRs more and more every-time I use it.

I went on a photowalk with the HDR master Trey Ratcliff last night. Lots of photographers turned up to get tips and to see how he works. If you are into High Dynamic Range photography it is most likely that you would of seen some of his work.

Go to www.stuckincustoms.com to see his blog.

It was impossible to take decent photos as there was too many people around. There would always be someone in shot which is never useful for HDR shots.

I’ll post up what I took soon. just have the editing to do.

A great place to sit, enjoying the surroundings.
